Overview
The Saylor Foundation seeks a Content Management Coordinator for its open courseware program.
Position Description
The Saylor Foundation seeks a detail-oriented, self-motivated, and tech-savvy individual with experience in web content management to fill the position of Content Management Coordinator (CMC). The CMC will be responsible for uploading and maintaining educational content on various platforms, including the Foundation's Wordpress-based website (www.saylor.org), iTunes U channel, media library, YouTube channel, and Moodle installation, as well as several other third party sites. The CMC will be responsible for converting content between file types in order to accommodate various course needs, updating content in order to meet new formatting/packaging standards, and identifying solutions when staff and faculty want to make use of content in foreign file formats. The CMC will also be responsible for ensuring that content is standardized across platforms and advising staff on designing content for optional functionality across mobile and other platforms. While the CMC will most frequently be working with content in PDF, Microsoft Office formats, Flash, and HTML, the content team often finds itself presented with foreign file types and formats (for example, the IMS Common Core Cartridge; content authored in LaTeX math type setting; and more), and the CMC will be responsible for determining how to work with and/or convert these new types and formats.
The CMC will oversee Research Assistants and 1099 independent contractors as needed when working on large or specialized content conversion and/or upload processes and will be responsible for efficiently organizing, tracking, and managing the workload of these research assistants and subcontractors.
The successful candidate will have a positive, can-do attitude with strong problem-solving skills. He or she will thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced, multi-discipline team environment and will be able to multi-task, work well under pressure, and respond rapidly to new challenges. The CMC will report directly to the Content Development Director.
