LifeWork is searching for a part time job coach to work in the High School Transition program.
Hours: Mon-Fri 8:30am - 11:30am and/or 12:30pm - 3:30pm (16 - 32 hours per week)
Location: Various businesses throughout Monmouth and Ocean Counties
Summary of Responsibilities
Job coaches in LifeWork's High School Transition Program work with students with developmental disabilities from various school districts across Monmouth and Ocean counties. They help students:
- Discover and develop vocational interests
- Develop work habits and skills that will maximize successful job placement after high school
- Identify support needs and job modifications
Job coaches provide on-site training, behavioral support, and advocacy for students who are unpaid interns with a variety of community employers. Job coaches work with students on a one-to-one basis. They are responsible for documenting student progress and conducting a written analysis each semester. Job coaches interact with family members and school district personnel in order to form a collaborative team approach to the student's transition.
Required Skills
- Strong teaching skills with emphasis on students who have emotional, behavioral, physical and/or developmental challenges.
- Ability to assess workplace culture, build relationships, and cultivate natural supports.
- Strong written and verbal communication.
- Strong customer service orientation
- Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills
- Ability to collaborate and solve problems
Education & Experience
- BA/BS in education, social work, business, or related subject area
Or
- AA or some college with experience and practical knowledge, and at least 1 year experience in education, human services, customer service, or disability field.
- Prior experience working with adults or children with disabilities preferred.
