Position: Family/Community Involvement Coordinator
Supervisor: Program Director
Overview: The Children's Corner Day Care Center is a publicly funded full day, full year child care center with newly renovated classrooms and wonderful roof-top playground and garden. Located in East New York, Brooklyn, it serves children from 2 -5 years of age. The program aims at providing a nurturing and stimulating environment that will prepare children to enter Kindergarten with the fundamental skills to succeed in school.
Responsibilities:
• Work with the Program Director to plan and implement program plans including family, health and mental health services, and community engagement. • Coordinate all family activities including monthly Parent Workshops, Classroom Meetings, and Parent Groups. • Coordinate and support the implementation and ongoing development of the Health Advisory Committee • Support in the observation and provision of supportive services to children and families, as needed • Support Education staff in addressing the needs of individual families and work in collaboration with teaching and management staff in developing individualized plans for families. • Assist in developing the Policy Council and Parent Committee following Head Start Performance Standards • Maintain and develop relationships with other community-based organizations that support the Program's work with families and children • Monitor and track ongoing medical and health forms/records as well as program requirements • Develop consistent, stable and supportive relationships with families and children and assess their needs • Create individualized family/child plans • Assist in the recruitment of families and support the oversight of enrollment /intake process • Manage a caseload of families and conduct home visits as needed to meet the program's requirement. • Maintain appropriate records that comply with all program requirements • Develop and maintain community resource materials for families and staff including referrals • Assist in program evaluation and assessment • Complete other relevant job duties as requested by supervisor
Qualifications:
• Masters degree in Social Work, Psychology, Education, Human Development or related field with knowledge of child development (birth to three years) required • 2-3 years' experience working with families and providing home visits • Bilingual English/Mandarin or English/Cantonese strongly preferred
Hours: 35 hours per week
Salary: Low to mid 40s, plus generous benefits package
