Silicon Valley FACES builds a community free of bias, bigotry and violence by transforming youth into community builders and empowering crime victims to thrive. We are seeking a full-time Camp Everytown Alumni Development Coordinator to locate our over 9,000 alumni, reconnect them to our organization, and enlist their support in a variety of ways. Camp Everytown is a 4-day, 3 night residential camp for high school students and staff that focuses on leadership and diversity. The ideal candidate will enjoy doing extensive research, working with social media, engaging in telephone conversations, and meeting face-to-face. We are looking for someone who is energized by connecting with people, has a deep passion for changing the world, and bringing those two things together for greater impact.
The Alumni Relations Coordinator reports to the Development Director and collaborates with colleagues in the FACES office (including but not limited to the Development Coordinator, Education Director, Camp Everytown Director, and Executive Director) to create and maintain pathways for alumni participation that advance the goals of FACES. The Alumni Relations Coordinator will partner with FACES Development colleagues to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward alumni giving.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Duties include the following (other duties may be assigned):
- Establish and build relationships with a wide range of alumni locally, regionally, nationally and internationally; maintain regular communication with alumni via direct contact, social media, email blasts, alumni web pages, and print publications
- Plan, implement and promote alumni programs that support FACES' strategic plan in collaboration with colleagues within the Development Department; develop and submit for approval by the Development Director objectives and strategies for the agency strategic plan
- Ensure accurate and complete alumni database records; capture contact, biographical and career information of alumni via surveys (including the Camp Everytown post-survey at pre-determined intervals), projects (e.g. alumni directory), correspondence, website, postal returns, etc.
- Establish alumni benefits, then educate graduating delegates about the benefits and engage them in programs
- Partner with the Camp Everytown Director to spearhead the introduction of alumni involvement in the follow-up activities after participating in Camp
- Collaborate closely with the Major Gifts Officer and other Development colleagues in increasing support from alumni; routinely identify and qualify alumni prospects for gifts; communicate development-related activities via written contact reports filed in Salesforce and periodic attendance at prospect management meetings
- Raise funds for select special projects and events in collaboration with Development colleagues
Physical and Environmental Conditions
Performance of duties and tasks uses standard office equipment, including significant work time at computer terminal. Will frequently be required to travel to off-site meetings or conferences throughout the extended Bay Area. Must be able to lift and carry 15 lbs. Work is performed inside and outside the office.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
Well-qualified candidates for this position will possess:
- A commitment to the mission of Silicon Valley, and the ability to articulate to alumni, with clarity and passion, the value of connection to FACES
- Prior participation in Camp Everytown a plus
- Demonstrated success in direct personal solicitation and ability to close gifts
- Ability to develop long-term relationships with donors and promote the distinctive nature of Silicon Valley FACES
- At least two years experience in alumni association, development/public affairs or related field
- Ability to think strategically and act operationally, show initiative and creativity, work independently and focus on outcomes and results
- Bachelor's degree
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills
- Experience with social media and database usage; proficiency in Salesforce a plus
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other office productivity tools (email, database management, digital media, etc)
- Willing and able to work flexible hours to attend alumni meetings and work events in evenings and on weekends
Ability to provide own transportation to the office and off-site meetings and events. Candidates must complete a rigorous background investigation, which includes fingerprinting.
