Position Summary

LEE seeks a collaborative and entrepreneurial leader to help members seek elected leadership opportunities to impact educational equity across America. The Director, Elected Leadership Resource & Support will manage the candidate pipeline and leverage the experience of our elected members to support each other while inspiring other LEE members to pursue public office.

The ideal candidate would thrive in a collaborative and entrepreneurial environment and be a proven self-starter. The Director, Elected Leadership Resource and Support will ensure members are purposefully developed to candidate readiness so they are prepared to run viable campaigns and set the stage to lead (as an elected) successfully. In addition to managing the pipeline, the successful candidate will research, create, catalog, and make available reusable and compelling resources to help members overcome barriers to impact. The Director, Elected Leadership Resource & Support will work closely with the rest of the Elected Leadership team and other LEE teams. This Director may also manage temporary employees and interns as necessary to achieve team priorities.

The Director must be aligned with LEE's mission and values. S/he must be strong at developing strong relationships with staff and members, have a record of superior project management success, adept at leveraging and integrating different technologies, and work collaboratively across multiple teams (and organizations).

This position reports to the Senior Director, Elected Leadership Strategy & Support.


  • Manage the candidate pipeline
    • Ensure all members are accounted for and have active next steps
  • Develop content for LEE's candidate readiness program
    • Research and produce content regarding impact of elected leaders, a day in the life, overcoming barriers, etc (e.g. blogs, written stories and other collateral)

Collaborate with LEE's Communications team on producing and distributing this content

Tag and catalog these resources and make them easily searchable and accessible for staff and members using LEE's technology resources

  • Develop a portfolio of regional elected leadership events to cultivate interest in pursuing elected office that can be easily customizable for regional context
  • Support in the execution of elected leadership events and programming opportunities

Skills and Experience:

  • Exceptional project management
  • Bachelor's degree required, preferred expertise in communications
  • Minimum of 5-7 years professional experience (combined) in communications, marketing, and electoral campaigns
  • Excellent communication skills (strong written, oral, and interpersonal)
  • Data management experience (i.e., salesforce)
  • Successful record of coaching and/or teaching others
  • Ability to prioritize competing responsibilities
  • Track record of building successful relationships
  • Strong sense of creativity and innovation
  • Prior work experience in education preferred

Salary for this position is competitive and depends on prior experience. In addition, a comprehensive benefits package is included.
