The UC Berkeley Center for Executive Education (CEE) is a California nonprofit public benefit corporation formed for the purpose of operating executive education programs previously operated by the UC Berkeley Haas School of Business. CEE develops and delivers open enrollment and custom programs for business executives in the US and internationally. Approximately 65% of its custom executive development programs are for overseas clients, and the portfolio of open enrollment programs continues to expand to meet market demands. About the Position:

The Program Manager is responsible for key elements of planning and organizing executive education programs. This includes managing logistics such as facilities, registration, audience management activities, A/V support program sponsors, caterers, transportation and other vendors. The Program Manager facilitates communication and services with faculty members, speakers, guests and participants. Provides extremely high-touch customer service to program participants, clients, partners and faculty members. This is a full-time, Exempt position located in Berkeley, CA.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plans, manages and executes all logistical elements of approximately 15 executive education programs per year, typically lasting between one and two weeks. For each assigned program, consults with clients, faculty and management on all details regarding program events and event planning.
  • Plans, organizes and identifies event locations and vendors, including transportation, catering and hotels.
  • Provides high-touch, hands-on support during programs to clients, participants and faculty. Is present at all sessions, events and activities, providing the highest level of customer service.
  • Manages participant enrollment (using Salesforce) and communication, including logistics, pre-readings and program schedules. Handles all program communications, material distribution and other activities to prepare participants for executive education programs.
  • Updates and maintains online content management system used for communicating key information and sharing materials with participants.
  • Partners with faculty and sales team around design of program schedules, logistics and activities (e.g. corporate site visits, receptions, special dinners).
  • Develops and manages program budgets in partnership with sales team and Faculty Directors. Generates and manages contracts for faculty and vendors.
  • Works collaboratively with a team of 12 other Program Managers, often supporting additional programs and assuming other team-wide responsibilities.

Qualifications:

The ideal Program Manager candidate must possess outstanding project management, planning and communications skills, and be a strong collaborative team-player. Ideally, this individual would also have experience with meeting and event planning.

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience and training.
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Familiarity with executive education programs and trends highly desirable.
  • Extremely strong project management and organizational skills, with the highest level of attention to detail and deadlines.
  • Proven ability to work successfully with others to produce high quality events that meet client needs, and appropriately represent UC Berkeley, the Haas School of Business and the UC Berkeley Center for Executive Education.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, including political acumen. Able to quickly and easily build strong relationships with diverse audiences, and work as a team-player who is motivated by working in a collaborative environment. Comfortable working with a broad range of stakeholders, including international participants and university faculty members. Able to skillfully manage others to meet deadlines.
  • Highly developed judgment, decision-making, and problem recognition/resolution skills.
  • Ability to think and act strategically about choices and decisions to ensure that program participants and faculty receive the best experience, while maintaining fiscal diligence.

Salary and Benefits:

The UC Berkeley Center for Executive Education offers a competitive compensation package, including medical/dental/vision/insurance, 401k, vacation leave, sick leave and 13 paid holidays. Salary is commensurate with experience.
