Job description

Medical Services Associate: Online Education

Are you looking for an opportunity to use your skills and experience to make an impact? Then consider joining the Pulmonary Hypertension Association (PHA),a dynamic, fast-growing organization that operates strategically and fulfills the mission with passion. We serve patients, their family members and the medical community.

PHA has an opening for a full-time Online Education Program Associate reporting to the Director of Medical Services.

Help create new opportunities for patients with a still incurable — but increasingly treatable — disease. In our quest to change the future of this underdiagnosed disease, we have...

  • Grown our annual income from $132,000 to $10 million during the past 13 years;
  • Moved from no treatments before 1996, and only one before 2001, to nine today — more than all but two of the 7,000 identified rare diseases in the United States; and,
  • Evolved from a patient's organization to one that now includes two medical membership associations.

We're an association that respects and nourishes our grass roots and we look for staff that understands and can help build this value.

PHA's Medical Services Department implements numerous medical education programs for both the medical and patient communities through the guidance of the Scientific leadership Council (SLC), leaders in the field of pulmonary hypertension as well as members of PH Resource Network, a professional membership body for allied health care professionals caring for pulmonary hypertension patients. Within the medical community, these programs focus on early identification and diagnosis of pulmonary hypertension and in enhanced care of PH patients.

Overall Responsibilities:

The Program Associate will assist with the activities of the Medical Services Department of the Pulmonary Hypertension Association, which is involved in a variety of exciting events, initiatives and public health educational projects. The Medical Services Department works to support the activities of three distinct bodies of medical professionals working within the field of pulmonary hypertension. These are:

  1. PHA's Scientific Leadership Council (SLC): made up of 27 leading medical experts in the field of PH. The SLC is responsible for setting PHA's medical agenda, including publishing the only medical journal dedicated to PH and developing the medical program for the international conference.
  2. PH Clinicians and Researchers: A membership group of more than 400 physicians and researchers working within the field of pulmonary hypertension
  3. Medical Education Fund Program: One of four components of a new Medical Education Fund Program is the recently redesigned PHA Online University. This website serves as the most comprehensive source of information on pulmonary hypertension for medical professionals; the Program Associate will have oversight over content development and management of the web site.
  4. PH Professional Network: The PHA membership section encompassing a nationwide network of non-physician clinicians (e.g., nurses, pharmacists, and respiratory therapists)

The primary focus of this position is on the development of the PHA Online University as the premier educational tool for medical professionals. The Program Associate is responsible for assisting committees of medical professionals in content development, production and evaluation.

Principal duties and responsibilities:

  1. Work with the leadership and subcommittees within the SLC to develop goals and carry out activities
  2. Anticipate and respond to constituent inquiries, needs and requests

  9. Set and meet annual metrics for online education
  10. Assist in the planning of PHA meetings and conferences, including PHA's International Conference and the PH Resource Network Symposium
