Job description

The High School Program Assistant will support the High School Program Director in coordinating our growing high school and college retention programs.

Position Mission and Value Proposition: Accelerate the high school program's progress in becoming a sustainable, well-led and highly effective program. Leverage the impact of the Program Director and the high school staff on the lives of children.

Responsibilities:

Program Director Support:

  • Provide administrative support including scheduling meetings and conference calls, maintaining calendars, arranging travel, managing correspondence, and processing reimbursements for the Program Director.
  • Participate in special projects to support the Program Director in reaching the team's goals.
  • Assume a proactive role in increasing the efficiency and organization of the Program Director.

Year Round Program Coordination:

  • Support Program Director in planning, facilitating, and publicizing all Student U high school program activities, including high school graduation events.
  • Track student attendance and maintain and update the student database.
  • Create and maintain database of enrichment opportunities for students throughout the year and community resources available to students and guardians.
  • Staff high school tutoring program.

Recruitment:

  • Publicize all open positions in the high school program to external community.
  • Coordinate all interviews and information sessions.

Program Development/Evaluation:

  • Conduct research for new high school initiatives by analyzing local and national best practices.
  • Track and manage evaluation data for the high school program.

Latino Student/Parent/Guardian Engagement:

  • Support Advocates who serve Latino students.
  • Translate all documents and communications into Spanish for Spanish-speaking guardians.

High School Staff Support:

  • Coordinate all mailings and communication between Dean of Instruction, College Advisor, Internship Coordinator, Grade Heads, Advocates, Social Worker and program participants.

Direct Reports:

  • Volunteers

Qualifications: An ideal candidate will make a significant impact on the operation of the Student U high school program. After one year, the High School Program Assistant will be able to identify specific, significant personal contributions and the Program Director and staff will view the High School Program Assistant as indispensable. Candidates must have a bachelor's degree and, ideally, have relevant work experience in the field of education.
