Position Reports to: Senior Grant Administrator
The Fund for Public Health in New York, Inc. (FPHNY) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that is dedicated to the advancement of the health and well-being of all New Yorkers. To this end, in partnership with the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH), FPHNY implements programs to address pressing public health needs, fosters private sector support to enhance health and health care, and helps educate the public regarding the protection of individual, family and community health.
The Fund for Public Health in New York (FPHNY) seeks a Grants Finance Associate, funded through a Community Transformation Grant (CTG) from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). This grant supports an integrated set of complementary evidence-based activities to bring about environment, program, and infrastructure changes to improve health outcomes by preventing the leading causes of death and disability across the life span for all New Yorkers, particularly those who experience disparities in health.
This position will be housed within the Bureau of Chronic Disease Prevention and Tobacco Control, which is in the DOHMH Division of Health Promotion and Disease Prevention. The bureau spearheads programs and initiatives to reduce the burden of chronic diseases and to address the underlying risk factors that lead to them, such as poor nutrition, physical inactivity and tobacco use. The Bureau promotes healthful environment and systems changes in the food and physical environment and develops programs that promote physical activity, healthy eating and smoking cessation. The Bureau also develops innovative strategies to convey critical health messages to the public. This position is funded through September 29, 2014.
The Grant Finance Associate will work as part of the CTG core team with direct report to the Senior Grant Administrator. The Grant Finance Associate will be responsible for managing the processing of purchase orders, invoices and other procurement actions; managing the hiring process of all grant staff; assisting with the preparation of financial reporting; as well as other administrative duties in support of the grant.
The Grant Finance Associate will serve as the support to the Senior Grant Administrator. The Grant Finance Associate is responsible for:
Bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, accounting, finance, or related degree.
Recent (within 2-5 years) experience in grants and contracts administration including budget and expense tracking and reconciliation
