Little Flower Children and Family Services of NY is seeking a Part-Time Foster Parent Support Coordinator 20 Hours per week to perform professional level social casework duties in developing and coordinating support services for foster parents at both our Brooikly and Queens location.
Under general supervision, an employee in this class performs both field and office work. The coordinator must be able to facilitate training, orientation and support groups. As well as, coordinate services and follow up with foster parent advocates, respite staff, etc.
Illustrative Examples of Work:
Reviews foster parent applications, rejections, and withdrawals for submittal to Homefinding supervisor.
Facilitate foster parent orientations in Brooklyn and Queens offices. Represent the agency at community functions and recruitment activities.
Organize and conduct foster parent trainings.
Coordinate respite and foster parent advocate services.
Participate in preservation and unit meetings.
Conduct foster boarding home re-evaluations and relocations.
Enters documentation into LFCS and Connections computer.
Review foster boarding home transfer requests and explore if placement can be resolved, services needed, etc.
Participate in orientation of new employees and training of staff.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Some knowledge of the principles and practices of social casework.
Some knowledge of the laws, rules and regulations governing the care and treatment of children.
Ability to establish effective working relationships with others, mediate between parties, clarify information, and obtain and verify information needed through interviews.
Ability to prepare clear, accurate and comprehensive records and to reach logical conclusions based on pertinent regulations and information.
Desirable Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited College or University with a Masters Degree in Social Work or related field. Some experience working with foster parents and in foster care preferred.
