Job description

The Sierra Club, the nation's oldest and largest grassroots environmental organization, seeks a DC-based Communications Assistant for our ground-breaking Beyond Coal campaign. This key position supports the members of our national media team by preparing reports, assisting with the placement of advertising, organizing and coordinating press conferences, tracking media coverage, and drafting materials for use with internal and external audiences.

The ideal candidate is a proven self-starter that is resourceful, creative, passionate about a career in communications, and is eager to join a fast-paced team. In order to hit the ground running, a background in environmental or energy issues will be helpful, and previous experience with journalism, media strategy or other media/press relations is a plus. Strong written and verbal communication skills is also crucial.
