New York Needs You (NYNY) aims to level the playing field for first-generation and low-income college students in New York City. NYNY's Fellows Program closes the opportunity gap through its intensive career development and leadership training that enables high-achieving, first-generation college students to realize their college and career aspirations. The Fellows Program includes bi-weekly career workshops where 200 Fellows develop relationships with more than 200 highly accomplished Mentor Coaches and engage with community and business leaders. The Fellows Program team is responsible for designing, developing, and delivering curricula for up to 28 workshops per year, along with providing case management support for Fellows and recruiting a new class of 100 students each year. The Training Manager is responsible for ensuring that the curricula and associated materials are completed on-time and error-free prior to each workshop. The Training Manager will work closely with the VP of the Fellows Program, the Associate Director of the Fellows Program and external stakeholders to design and develop the curricula, and will frequently deliver content or facilitate group discussions during workshops. The Training Manager will work with the Training Coordinator to ensure that all logistics are prepared prior to workshops. The Training Manager will also work closely with the VP of the Fellows Program to develop partnerships with college and University administrators with the aim of securing Fellow recruitment support. As needed, the Training Manager will also provide individual support to Fellows. The ideal candidate will have experience developing and delivering curricula, be detail-oriented, have strong relationship-building skills, and be interested in working with college-aged youth.

Responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating with the VP of the Fellows Program, Associate Director of the Fellows Program, and external stakeholders to design curricula for both first year and second year Fellows
  • Developing curricula, including revising existing content in PowerPoint and Word and adding new content, as necessary
  • Delivering content and facilitating group discussions during workshops
  • Building partnerships with college and University administrators for the purpose of supporting Fellow recruitment
  • With the support of Fellow Support Coordinators, providing case management to Fellows on a variety of topics
  • Collaborating with the Strategic Partnerships Team to support healthy mentoring relationships between Fellows and Mentor Coaches
  • Additional projects and duties as determined by the Fellows Program team

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree is required
  • Masters Degree is preferred
  • Experience teaching or training youth and adults
  • Detailed-oriented and able to multi-task
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Seeks continuous improvement and feedback
  • Strong interest in and willingness to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders
  • Microsoft Office proficiency, including PowerPoint
  • High level of energy and commitment
  • Experience working with college-aged youth preferred
  • Graphic design abilities a plus
