The Alzheimer's Association National Capital Area Chapter located in Fairfax Virginia is seeking an Associate Director, Foundations & Individual Gifts
POSITION TITLE: Associate Director, Foundations & Individual Gifts
REPORTS TO: Vice President, Development
DEPARTMENT: Development
JOB CLASSIFICATION: Full-Time Exempt Position
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The primary focus of this position is on revenue generation through foundations and intermediate level individual gifts. Primary duties include prospect research, qualifying prospects, and cultivation, maintaining foundation and individual core list portfolios, with the objective being to secure grants and donor gifts. Additionally, this position collaborates with other chapter staff for identification of foundation and individual prospects. This position is also responsible for United Way/CFC campaigns. This position will be accountable for meeting weekly, monthly, and annual metrics and revenue goals.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Coordinate with VP, Development to create annual strategy and fundraising plan and timeline for foundations and intermediate individual gift procurement
Identify, cultivate, and solicit grants (all levels) from foundations and similar institutions, and intermediate gifts ($1,000 to $9,999) from individual donors to provide financial support for the Chapter
Coordinate with senior management and program staff to identify appropriate programs for funding
Collaborate with appropriate Chapter staff and/or board to prepare proposals and present requests
Build strong relationships with existing foundation and individual intermediate donors through grant reporting and stewardship activities such as meetings, invitations to receptions and programs, etc., to ensure continued, long-term support for the Chapter
Organize, produce, and submit annual reports to foundation donors, as required
Manage Chapter processes pertaining to foundations and individual giving, including identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities. Work with National staff to ensure proper individual intermediate gift reporting so that donors may receive Alois Society benefits
Operationalize the National Office Alois stewardship program recommendations for Chapter senior management team and board involvement, with plan approval of VP, Development
Receive Alois level prospects and background information from Manager, Community Events and Support Services post-event for Women's Luncheon and Reason to Hope Breakfasts
Manage United Way/CFC campaign eligibility application process and best practices (including on insite) for increasing revenue through these channels
Coordinate with VP, Development to create annual strategy and plan and timeline for maximizing revenue opportunities and leverage of United Way/CFC campaign
Maintain a working knowledge of the Alzheimer's Association mission and its programs
Represent the Chapter at public events, conferences, and workshops. Assist with event day logistics as needed
This position will be responsible for weekly, monthly, and annual metrics and revenue goals for foundations and intermediate gifts
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
B. S. or B. A. Degree Marketing, Communications, Business Development, or related field 4-5 years of experience in foundation and individual giving, in the health care sector desirable
Experience in proposal writing and reporting
Excellent public speaking, media relations, and relationship management skills
Must be comfortable with extensive public relations and interaction with staff, medical professionals, clients, and individuals touched by Alzheimer's disease
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills, the ability to prioritize, and manage multiple priorities
Professional demeanor, with excellent interpersonal skills and relationship building skills
Excellent database and record-keeping skills
Excellent computer and research skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
The ability to analyze information and make timely, appropriate decisions
Self-starter with the ability function autonomously and as a member of a team, with a high regard for accountability and outcomes
High level of diplomacy and confidentiality with donor information.
Must be able to travel by vehicle extensively to represent the Chapter at public events, fundraisers, and media events
Personal or professional passion to provide services to individuals with Alzheimer's disease or related dementia
Must be able to work evenings and weekends, as necessary
