Non-profit association (www.nasadad.org) doing research and technical assistance for States on substance abuse prevention, treatment, and recovery services seeks experienced, team-oriented person with demonstrated understanding of substance abuse issues, excellent writing and research abilities, experience with meeting facilitation, and strong communication skills.
Experience and qualities:
- 2-10 years of experience in substance abuse research and/or administration (or other related public health, social service, or criminal justice domain);
- MA preferred or BA with commensurate experience in social science or human service field (e.g., public health, social work, sociology, psychology, economics);
- Strong technical writing and qualitative/quantitative data analysis skills;
- Ability to develop high-level research reports;
- Knowledge of Federal (e.g. HHS/SAMHSA, NIDA, NIAAA, ONDCP, etc.) and State substance abuse and public health policies and practices preferred.
- Experience with project management, and staff supervision and training preferred;
- Strong skills in word processing, spreadsheet and presentation development, and web page authoring/content management;
- Must work well in a collaborative environment.
Primary responsibilities:
- Develop small and large-scale questionnaires and facilitate data collection, analysis, and summarization;
- Write research briefs, meeting summaries, and research reports (from 1 to 25 pages);
- Coordinate written and telephone communications between State and Federal partners;
- Communicate daily and provide technical assistance to State substance abuse leaders;
- Participate in planning for national-level meetings and conferences.
- Manage projects, task supervise, and work effectively in a team-driven environment.
Salary commensurate with experience. Work at office in DC (NOT a telecommute); some meetings around DC area, occasional travel out of area. Excellent benefits, near Metro.
