Senior Director, Healthy Lifestyles

Description

The YMCA of Greater New York reaches half a million New Yorkers through programs that focus on youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. We are seeking a driven, self-motivated and experienced individual who will provide leadership and oversight to Association health and fitness programs and services and to be a resource to branches in these areas. This will be accomplished by implementing and monitoring Association standards for program, equipment, staff training and facilities. In addition, the Senior Director will oversee citywide youth sports and fitness programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement standards for all Branch Health and Fitness programs and services.
  • Monitor Branch compliance with the YMCA of Greater New York Health and Fitness Standards and conduct annual assessment.
  • Oversee the purchase and lease of all Association health and fitness equipment and manage the preferred vendor contract and relationship.
  • Assist in hiring, supervision, coaching and evaluation of Branch Healthy Lifestyles Directors.
  • Provide oversight and management of all Association core and priority health lifestyle programs.
  • Oversee the Association's Jr. Knicks, Jr. Mets and other citywide youth sports programs.
  • Provide leadership to the Association Healthy Lifestyles and Sports Program Cabinets.
  • In cooperation with the Director of Training, provide leadership and guidance to the NYC Healthy Lifestyles University training and certification program.
  • Provide guidance and recommendations for piloting and implementing new and innovative fitness programming and equipment.
  • Provide support for Branch Healthy Lifestyles Directors in deepening the quality of personal training and implementing the Y Personal Fitness program.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Health Fitness, Exercise Science, Physiology or Physical Education is required.
  • Five years management experience in a fitness operation.
  • Must be computer literate with MS Word and Excel skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and others in a fast paced environment.
  • Current CPR and First Aid Certification required. ACE, AFAA, ACSM, NSCA or NASM fitness certification is a plus.
