The Elizabeth Fellows Program is a long-term mentoring program. High school sophomores are identified that show great potential but have limited resources or support systems. The program provides them with comprehensive support and a broad network of resources to educate, enrich and empower these students to succeed. Students admitted to the program will be required to attain high standards of academic achievement and in turn will be given the necessary tools and incentives to do so. The program's curriculum reflects the passions of Elizabeth Edwards, enhancing the Fellows' lives through mentorship, advocacy, and public service. The ultimate goal of the program is that each Fellow will not only get to college, but will be set forth on a path to successfully complete college.
Purpose: The Program Director oversees the coordination and administration of all aspects of the Elizabeth Fellows Program, including ongoing planning, organizing, leading and controlling of program activities.
Qualifications: 3 - 5 years experience in Social Work, Education or related field, preferably in a nonprofit setting. Previous experience working with adolescents and/or volunteer mentors a plus. Knowledge of program management, planning and budgeting. Knowledge and experience working with diverse populations and various cultural backgrounds. Proficiency using Word processing, Spreadsheets, E-mail and Internet, including social media and blogs. Other skills and abilities: volunteer management, organization and time management; excellent written & oral communication skills; collaboration, initiative, pro-active leadership.
