Share Our Strength,® a national nonprofit, is ending childhood hunger in America by connecting children with the nutritious food they need to lead healthy, active lives. Through its No Kid Hungry Campaign™— a national effort to end childhood hunger in America by 2015—Share Our Strength ensures children in need are enrolled in federal nutrition programs, invests in community organizations fighting hunger, teaches families how to cook healthy meals on a budget, and builds public-private partnerships to end hunger, both nationally and at the state level.
To assist us in our efforts, we are seeking to hire a Cooking Matters Contract Coordinator to locally lead and manage a project with the Department of Defense to bring Cooking Matters programming to families at USCG Air Station Cape Cod, MA from February 1 – December 31, 2014. Cooking Matters teaches healthy cooking, nutrition, and food budgeting to low-income people who are most at-risk of hunger and malnutrition. The Coordinator is responsible for all areas of program management, including coordinating Cooking Matters at the Store tours, managing program volunteers and facilitators, and collaborating with various community partners and base agencies and staff. The Contract Coordinator will report to the Manager for National Partnerships at Share Our Strength to ensure excellence in execution and achieve project goals. The incumbent may collaborate with other Cooking Matters staff in the state of Idaho and other contractors working on other bases across the country. The primary deliverable for this position is the coordination approximately 75 Cooking Matters at the Store tours, requiring approximately 563 hours between February – December 2014.

Physical Requirements: This position requires being in the field 80% of the time, driving 10% of the time, and working in an office setting 10% of the time.
