JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
The Manager of Institutional Giving will report to the Director of Development.
The Manager of Institutional Giving will be focused on institutional giving (including foundation, corporate and government funders) in an effort to expand revenue sources in all categories. The right candidate will have experience in institutional fundraising and understanding its nuances, experience researching institutional prospects and working directly with institutional program officers, writing grant proposals, grants management and reporting on existing grants for each type of institutional funder. This position requires someone who is focused, organized and highly productive.
The Manager of Institutional Giving must be a goals-oriented, hands-on professional, a strategic and a concrete thinker with proven ability to implement and evaluate strategies and achieve measurable goals, a skilled communicator, with strong project management skills and a track record in Development. The right candidate will be able to meet departmental goals and maximize optimal functioning.

This is a full-time position at Tanenbaum. Compensation is commensurate with experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITIED TO:
- Meeting all goals for institutional giving and expanding them annually.
- Offering strategies for growing all aspects of development.
- Providing strategies for growing the institutional donor database and implementing them including through institutional-focused events such as legislative breakfasts.
- Prospect research to identify and prioritize potential institutional funders (foundations, corporations, and government agencies).
- Outreach to and cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of program officers.
- Writing strong/competitive proposals for corporate, foundation, and government funding.
- Preparation of written materials related to institutional giving: letters of inquiry, program budgets, reports, acknowledgements, and all other forms of correspondence with institutional donors.
- Grants management, including:
- reviewing grant-related revenues and expenditures,
- reviewing projects status to ensure grants are appropriately utilized by Program areas in a timely manner, and
- supporting the preparation by Programs and, on occasion, providing, interim and final reports to funders as required.
- Support related to institutional giving: maintaining grant activity calendar, conducting follow-up with funding agencies, preparing all related written/oral communications.
- Serving as a resource for Communications and other departments as needed to provide information, research, analysis, and written reports.
- Providing database support for Donor Perfect as it relates to institutional giving.
- Performing other duties as required across the department and organization to maximize success.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPECTATIONS:
- Commitment to the mission and goals of Tanenbaum.
- BA or graduate degree.
- At least two years' experience in institutional fundraising.
- Highly skilled and compelling written and oral communication skills.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to analyze and present data.
- Ability to communicate complex concepts simply and effectively.
- Track record in managing multiple tasks, details and meeting deadlines.
- Understanding of project management
- Familiarity with creating and overseeing budgets
- Highly organized, detail-oriented and self-motivated.
- Quick learner.
- Understanding of institutional giving.
- Ability to generate strong proposals independently.
- Proven ability to obtain commitments and gifts.
- Versatile and able to function effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Represent Tanenbaum in a professional manner at all times.
- Strong computer skills with expertise in word processing, spreadsheets, database entry and management; knowledge of Donor Perfect a plus.
