Job description

The Trust for Public Land, a national non-profit dedicated to conserving land for people to enjoy as parks, gardens and other natural places, is recruiting for a Director of Philanthropy for Ohio. This position works closely with the State Director to develop fund raising goals and projections and to build a major gifts program of individual, foundation and corporate donors. This position also works closely with other staff, including National philanthropy staff, and Advisory Board volunteers.

The position is expected to carry between 35-45 active, high level prospects and manage a portfolio of 40-50 pipeline prospects, to make at least 120 visits to donors and prospects, assure that the Ohio philanthropy budget is met or exceeded, create and manage the Ohio philanthropy plan and raise $300,000-$1.5MM annually.

Requirements include: 6+ years fund-raising experience at all levels, including major and annual gift solicitations; proficiency with donor databases; experience in writing grant proposals; experience staffing volunteer boards, availability for travel (30-40%, mostly locally) and knowledge of the Ohio philanthropic market. Knowledge of or experience with an environmental or land conservation organization is a plus.
