Achievement First currently operates 22 schools in Brooklyn, NY, and New Haven, Bridgeport and Hartford, CT (and will expand to Rhode Island in 2013). Summary

At Achievement First, we believe that having great people on our team is the key to delivering breakthrough results for our scholars. As the associate director of web development for Achievement First, you will lead custom web development throughout the entire project life cycle. The ideal candidate will be comfortable leading and/or collaborating on small to large projects. You will need to be capable of full cycle project leadership including project management, application architecture, design input, site layout/user interface, database design/programming, and .NET development. You will be tasked with building custom web sites using your own leadership and programming skills, as well as serving as a web development liaison between internal resources and external web development resources.

Responsibilities of the Associate Director of Web Development Will Include but Are Not Limited to:

• Lead custom web development throughout the entire project life cycle, including project management, application architecture, design input, site layout/user interface, database design/programming and .NET development
• Develop rapid prototypes for data capture systems
• Serve as the web development liaison between internal AF resources and external resources
• Maintain and update Achievement First's existing web applications
• Align Achievement First's web development strategy with the overall system and data infrastructure vision
• Recommend which projects are better suited for outside vs. inside development

Educational Background and Work Experience

• Bachelor's degree from a competitive college or university (Master's degree preferred)
  • Web application developer with 3-5 years of experience developing on a Microsoft based technology stack (IIS, SQL)
    • Strong preference for development experience on the ASP.NET MVC platform
    • Strong preference for development experience in common MVC frameworks (such as Angular, Backbone, YUI etc.)
    • Strong preference for prior experience developing in a SharePoint environment
• High degree of proficiency with C#.net, WCF, WPF, ASP.net, Java Script, CSS3/HTML5, XML
• Prior experience with MS SQL server 08/12
• Experience with SOAP/SAML a plus
• Experience with version control systems (i.e. GIT, Team Foundation Server, SVN)
• Incremental development experience i.e. Agile Scrum
