Senior Job Developer/Career Development Specialist

We empower people to break the cycles of homelessness, welfare dependency, substance abuse, and incarceration through innovative work and housing programs.

We are currently seeking a Senior Career Development Specialist in our Porter Facility to join our growing team. The Senior Career Development Specialist will support the Associate Director of Career Development by supervising career development staff at assigned facilities and by establishing department strategies and goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Contacts employers by mail, phone, e-mail, and in person to develop appropriate job openings; prepares job orders
  • Conducts extensive outreach to employers and potential employers to market trainees, increase pool of employers, increase job bank listing, and develop new job orders
  • Develop relationships with potential employer partners who offer employment opportunities with benefits and career advancement potential.
  • Interact with program Case Managers and other Career Development Specialists to refine understanding of applicants' needs and identify targeted job development efforts
  • Supervises Career Development Specialists and monitor their individual placement activity, attendance and new business creation
  • Ensure that assigned sites meet monthly departmental goals
  • Conducts on site Job Prep Classes and Weekly Job Club meetings in an organized and structured way
  • Maintains regular contact with employers to monitor employment satisfaction and to suggest accommodation of requirements for hard-to-fill positions
  • Participates in staff meetings
  • Maintains up to date records
  • Oversee interns from all sites, including weekly updates and time sheets
  • Performs other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • At least 3 years experience in related field
  • Recruiting experience preferred
  • Must be proficient MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint)
  • Commitment to ending homelessness and criminal recidivism
  • Strong communication, both oral and written
  • Ability to motivate placed participants toward the retention of entry-level employment
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to follow up
  • Team Player
