Job Announcement: Organizer
Change Corps is a salaried, one-year full-immersion training program in grassroots organizing. During your year with Change Corps, you'll get experience working on several social change campaigns in different locations across the country, learning the skills necessary to build a grassroots campaign from the ground up.
Change Corps partners with campaigns focused on issues that you're passionate about, such as marriage equality, women's rights, jobs and the economy, money in politics, voting rights, immigration reform and global warming. Then we send our organizers to take on these big issues, face powerful adversaries, and have a real chance of creating lasting social change.
You'll learn the skills necessary to plan town hall meetings, set up and speak at press conferences, recruit and train volunteers, collect petitions, direct a canvass office, and much more. You'll learn how to mobilize a community towards a common goal and build the kind of public support and grassroots action that persuades decision-makers to stop obstructing change and embrace it instead.
When Change Corps organizers complete their training, they're ready for a social change job with real responsibility, and we help place them into leading organizations and campaigns. Together, we're building a movement with a pipeline of emerging new organizers and leaders to push and prod our country forward, towards a more equal, democratic, and green America.
We're looking for hardworking, ambitious leaders with excellent verbal and written communication skills. And we're looking for people who are willing to be geographically flexible if it means the chance to fight and make an impact on the most pressing issues we face today.
Change Corps is an equal opportunity employer and will not discriminate against any employee or applicant on the basis of race, color, national or ethnic origin, religion, age, sex, handicap, pregnancy, sexual orientation, or veteran status.
We're now accepting applications for the inaugural Change Corps class, beginning in August 2014. Apply online to be an organizer here: www.changecorps.org/apply.
