About the Position
The teacher trainer will be working closely with and reporting to Mote Oo's Training Coordinator to develop and improve the impact of the organisation's teacher training activities. He/she will assess needs, implement training and support plans for teachers from Mote Oo's target group and assist in maintaining records of teacher observations and follow-ups.
Key Duties:
Training:
- Develop and deliver training workshops
- Observe teachers and provide them with increased support to apply better practice
- Develop and maintain relationships with teachers and head teachers to assess training needs
- Maintain observation systems and records for follow-up support of teachers
- Liaise with education CBOs and other organizations delivering similar services within Myanmar to ensure equality and consistency in training support and coverage
- Provide support to volunteer and consultant trainers
- Liaise with Mote Oo staff on logistics and for training preparation
- Prepare training reports, input and analyze feedback and attendance from trainings
- Use feedback and observation systems to improve the quality of training content and delivery
Other:
- Advise and support the development of curriculum. This will involve, among other things: collecting feedback, assisting with monitoring and evaluation of materials, leading workshops (focus groups) on new materials, etc.
- Develop teaching and training materials for partner organisations and for Mote Oo projects
- Support distribution of materials
- Assist in the translation of materials
- Participate in organization-wide meetings and activities as requested
Required Experience, Qualifications and Attitudes:
- Minimum 2 years teaching and/or teacher training in Myanmar or another development context
- Expert speaker of English and fluent in spoken and written Myanmar.
- Good communication skills
- The willingness and confidence to travel independently throughout Myanmar and to Thailand
- Strong computer skills (esp. Word and Excel)
- Flexible and able to adapt to changing plans and situations.
- Able to work and travel in basic conditions, sometimes individually, without a high level of comfort
- Self-motivated and ready to take ownership of their projects
- Experience working as a member of a diverse team
- Familiarity and experience with low resource classrooms and learning.
Desired:
- Teaching and/or Teacher training qualification
- University degree or diploma in education or related field
- Experience working with teachers of Myanmar adults
- Proficiency in other languages used in Myanmar an advantage.
- Valid passport holder
