Fine Arts Teaching Artist
Part Time/Temporary.
Multiple positions available.
Positions exist through Labor Day 2013, with the potential for more long term work based on available work and performance.
The Children's Museum of the Arts is a growing nonprofit operating from a new 11,000 square foot space in Soho. Our programs reach 120,000 people annually on-site at CMA as well as off site in public schools, hospitals, and community spaces. CMA's programs are divided into three areas of focus: Early Childhood, Media, and Fine Arts; each department offers general hours, school group sessions, in-school residencies, and registrations classes and camps.
CMA is seeking two to three Fine Arts Teaching Artists to participate in general hours and select community programs in the summer of 2013. CMA teaching artists develop and lead hands-on art-making activities and workshops and classes for children and families, targeting ages four to 15.Within the framework of CMA's programming, Teaching Artists are encouraged to incorporate their own art practices into workshop designs and curriculum.CMA seeks artists representing an expertise in a wide-variety of mediums.Teaching Artists report to the Fine Arts Programs Manger, and work closely to collaborate with fellow teaching artists.
CMA teaching artist positions are part time, nonexempt positions. Schedules vary from week to week, and range from ten to 20 hours per week. The hourly rate will vary based on TA experience. Availability on weekends is required.
