Job description

SUMMARY

The Development Specialist acts as the Administrator for the Individual Giving team, and is responsible for supporting day-to-day operations and the achievement of fund raising goals. This position reports directly to the Senior Development Officer, Individual Giving.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

·Advance the Individual Giving program, working closely with the Senior Development Officer, Director of Development, and volunteer committees.

·With the Senior Development Officer, Individual Giving, develop and execute donor solicitation, stewardship and cultivation plans.

·Provide logistical support for donor events and individual donor engagement opportunities.

·Oversee the prospect management process and reporting from Raiser's Edge for Individual Giving.

·Work closely with the Development Services Manager to ensure proper tracking of donor and prospect data in Raiser's Edge.

·Maintain acknowledgement letters for donors.

·Support the Catalyst Committee preparing for and coordinating quarterly meetings.

·Perform other duties as assigned to strengthen the Development Department.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

·B.A./B.S. degree from an accredited college or university and 2 years experience in a development office environment, or an equivalent combination of experience.

·Progressively responsible development experience in project management, donor relations, prospect research and event planning.

·Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

·Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Web and email.

·Knowledge of database concepts; database management experience preferred, especially in Raiser's Edge for Windows.

·Ability to work in a high-pressure environment and balance competing demands and priorities.

·Able to exhibit tact and diplomacy in a confidential environment.

·Knowledge of printed, electronic and on-line prospect research resources.

·Experience working with printed materials from design to delivery.

·Ability to set-up administrative systems.

·Highly organized and detail-oriented.

·Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and deadlines.

·Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

·Comfortable taking initiative and making decisions independently.

·Flexible and able to adjust to changing priorities.

·Some evening and weekend work required.
