General BRICK Computer Teacher

ESSENTIAL QUALITIES:

BRICK Academy teachers are more than instructional staff members. They help build students to be responsible, intelligent and creative. We are seeking elementary teachers who will make the commitment to teach with determination, integrity and purpose, execute with fidelity while embodying these essential qualities: • Reflect on practices to continuously improve effectiveness • Give thoughtful consideration to their learning and that of their students • Demonstrate past performance raising student achievement and articulate these gains with data/evidence • Challenge the status quo in order to help change the lives of our students, their families and the greater community • Realize that technology is an essential component in planning and delivering instruction and can be used effectively to increase student achievement • Possess a genuine love and concern for the education and success of students

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

A BRICK Academy teacher works to create and enhance a culture of achievement and respect where high expectations and results are the norm. All teachers are responsible for demonstrating significant and measurable academic gains, each year, with the students they teach. All teachers' actions must always be aligned with our mission, vision, core values and education program. The essential functions for our teachers are as follows:

• Work with the school's core IB units of inquiry to ensure alignment with state standards and state assessments

• Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of students • Evaluate student progress on a regular basis and prepares progress reports

• Instruct pupils in citizenship, basic communications skills and other general elements of the course of study common to all teachers, as specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the district • Provide individual, small, and/or large group instruction, whenever appropriate, in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of pupils with varying intellectual and special abilities

• Instruct pupils in proper care and use of textbooks, equipment and materials

• Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior needed to provide and orderly and productive environment

• Develop instructional plans and organizes class time to provide a balanced program of instruction.

• Develop and maintains professional competence through participation in in-service education activities provided by the district and in self-selected professional growth activities

• Communicates with parents and pupil personnel staff members on the individual pupil's progress and development.

• Develop and participates in the sponsorship of student activities and faculty committees

• Act as a resource person on an interdepartmental level to relate appropriate aspects of his/her subject area to other subject areas

• Work to establish and maintain open lines on communication with students and their parents concerning the academic and behavioral progress of all assigned • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.

• New Jersey Department of Education Elementary Standard Certificate or Certificate of Eligibility (COE) or Certificate of Eligibility with Advance Standing (COEAS).
