PARENT – CHILD HOME VISITOR REPORTS TO: PARENT-CHILD HOME SUPERVISOR

PART-TIME - 18.75 hours per week

$12.25 PER HOUR

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Parent and Child Home Visitor is responsible for providing home visits to culturally diverse families with young children age two and three. The focus of these visits is to model how to use books and educational toys for generating enthusiasm for learning and verbal interactions which will increase & support school readiness. Conducts regularly scheduled home visits twice a week for 30minutes each; prepares detailed and accurate reporting documents.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides 46 home visits to parents of children age 2 and 3 according to the agency and National PCHP guidelines
  • Interacts positively with all children to support their individual learning and meets their emotional needs
  • Maintains an open, friendly, and cooperative relationship with each child's family promoting involvement in the program, and promoting parent-child bonding and nurturing parent-child relationships
  • Provides age and culturally competent services
  • Works hours convenient for the parents and children being visited
  • Models behaviors that enhance children's development and promotes school readiness
  • Attends weekly team meetings with Site Supervisor and other parent child home visitors
  • Provides and completes documentation in a timely manner
  • Attends training for the Parent-Child Home visiting program provided by the Site Supervisor
  • Advocates for the values of a diverse population within CHSW and the Community
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or the equivalence
  • Experience working effectively and respectfully in a multicultural setting; thorough understanding of culturally specific community and immigrant , refugee issues specifically with 2 and 3 year olds
  • Experience in planning, organizing, scheduling, record keeping, staff, and parent communications
  • Must be skilled in establishing relationships with individuals and families that maintain and promote their self respect and encourage their independence; and assessing their progress in regards to the service plan
  • Must possess strong human relations skills to communicate and work effectively within a culturally diverse work environment and community
  • Ability to make home visits as needed and to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to work flexible hours
  • Must have access to a personal vehicle with insurance coverage( unless employer supplies vehicle)
  • Possess a valid Washington State driver's license
  • Bi-lingual preferred ( English, Amharic)
