THE ORGANIZATION

The Tanenbaum Center for Interreligious Understanding promotes mutual respect with practical programs that bridge religious difference and combat prejudice in workplaces, schools, health care settings, and areas of armed conflict.

THE PROGRAM

Tanenbaum pioneered the work in religious diversity in the workplace conducting the first national survey of the experience of employees and religious bias and discrimination. We conduct national surveys and work directly with national and international corporations, government agencies, institutions of higher learning and leading not-for-profits to train them on how to address issues of religious bias and accommodation in an increasingly diverse workforce. We provide briefings and workshops, webinars, panel discussions, policy reviews and consulting on best practices.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The Workplace Assistant Program Director is a full time position that reports to the Managing Director of Programs.

The Workplace Assistant Program Director will be responsible for managing a growing program through outreach, research and contributions to the creation of program materials.

Responsibilities will include the following:

  • Manage the Workplace program and supervise Program Associate(s) and Assistant(s) under the guidance of the Managing Director of Programs.
  • Expanding the Workplace program and identifying and spearheading opportunities for new sector-specific initiatives
  • Leading program outreach and marketing, including identification of target markets and new opportunities, creation of outreach materials and coordination of e-blasts, mailings and follow up communication.
  • Managing client relationships.
  • Working with the Managing Director to ensure the realization of program goals and deliverables.
  • Managing the accumulation and evaluation of data to report impact of program services and initiatives.
  • Assisting in the design and implementation of all services including high level briefings, workshops, presentations, online learning and extended trainings.
  • Conducting workshops nationally and internationally, presentations, extended trainings and other Workplace speaking engagements.
  • Staying abreast of trends in organizational and professional development, diversity and inclusion, and ensuring that Tanenbaum training programs are effective, up-to-date and cutting edge.
  • Conducting ongoing research related to religious discrimination, and religion in the workplace.
  • Supporting related business and fund development for the program.
  • Helping expand the Workplace Advisory Council.
  • Initiating the updating and maintenance of online Workplace resources; researching, drafting and finalizing materials for print and online publication.
  • Providing organizational support as needed for general operations and serving as member of Program Unit in assessing overall direction.
  • Preparing materials and correspondence related to meetings.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPECTATIONS

  • Commitment to the mission and goals of Tanenbaum.
  • Graduate degree in management, law, organizational development, or other related field.
  • At least 3-5 years' experience in public speaking, training and/or facilitation.
  • Exceptional research, analysis and written, oral and presentation communication skills.
  • Highly organized and adept at multi-tasking.
  • Solution-oriented.
  • Detail-oriented and self-motivated.
  • Background in law, diversity, intercultural communications, or human resources a plus.
  • Experience with distance or online learning helpful.
  • Interest in and facility with fund development a plus.
  • Skilled at project management, managing client relationships and developing and executing sales initiatives.
  • Experience in creating and managing budgets.
  • Takes initiative.
  • Creative.
  • Team player.
  • Represent Tanenbaum and the program in a professional manner at all times.
  • Enjoy working with people and possess strong communication and motivation skills.
  • Expertise in computers including internet research, Windows, MS Word and Excel.
  • Sense of humor.
