SCO is looking for a well- qualified Director of First Step NYC
MINIMUM RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee the start-up and manage the overall program operations of the flagship FirstStepNYCCenter and the Leadership Institute. Supervise Associate Directors for Center and Leadership Institute
- Work with Chief Program Officer to develop and maintain fundraising plan
- Represent SCO, the FirstStepNYCCenter and the Leadership Institute to government agencies, private funding sources and community stakeholders
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with PS 41 Principal, the Brownsville Partnership, and other key stakeholders in the community
- Develop communication strategy to promote a positive image of programs in the community. Effectively convey at a national level to policy makers and general public the importance of quality birth to five services for at risk children
- Develop and monitor budgets in partnership with Associate Directors
- Prepare and submit reports to governing bodies and funding agencies
- Lead team to ensure that developmentally appropriate practices and curricula are implemented
- Ensure compliance with Head Start Performance Standards, NAECY program standards, State of NY and City of NY licensing standards
- Maintain and refine a system of reflective supervision and performance evaluation in support of relationship-based work
- Ensure effective monitoring and assessment of program services to promote staff development, teamwork and quality services to families
- Coordinate with local evaluation partners and national evaluators
- Serve as a member of SCO's Executive and Administrative Councils. Interact with members of the SCO Board of Directors as necessary
- Perform other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master's Degree or higher in early childhood education or an early childhood related field
- Extensive early childhood program and/or policy experience. Knowledge of principles and practices of early childhood education and family involvement
- Experience with program development and maintenance and experience with staff training, management and evaluation
- Experience with fundraising
- Experience with fiscal planning and budget management
- Ability to lead an interdisciplinary team of professionals
- Ability to utilize and provide reflective supervision
- Ability to communicate in a manner that demonstrates and fosters cooperation, respect, concern and openness to change
- Ability to meet deadlines, stay well organized and work under pressure. Ability to prioritize
- Leadership experience in multi-cultural environments serving vulnerable or underserved populations
- Proficiency in multiple software applications, including most Microsoft Office products.
