Responsibilities
- Develop effective labor management teams at the Registered Nurse Labor Management Initiatives (RNLMI); coach and mentor internal staff/clients (union and management) in change management, process improvement tools and techniques (develop project scope, objectives, metrics)
- Work with clients to translate functional goals into quantifiable results; maintain good working relationships with union, management, and staff in order to deliver results
- Partner with clients (union and management) to identify and conduct high impact projects that improve working conditions of 1199SEIU members, leading to enhanced satisfaction quality improvements at various hospitals
- Deliver measurable results using methods such as: Process Redesign, Lean Six Sigma, Workout, and Breakthrough tools and techniques; deliver training in a variety of process improvement methodologies; change management; organizational development and impacts of changes in the industry
- Develop and manage project pipelines to ensure ideas are captured, shaped into charters, launched, and completed within mutually agreed-upon time frames
- Lead and oversee staff (internal and client) during improvement initiatives, monitor and track results to ensure targets are met and sustained; document client results and case studies for use in publications, speeches, and grant writing
- Effectively interact with client organizations to solicit ideas and turn business problems into viable projects; leverage client experiences and best practices to drive change, provide updates and progress reports
- Assist department leadership in deploying large-scale improvement programs across multiple client sites; participate in the development and execution of events and conferences
- Align initiatives with local or national health care reform policies as needed; maintain ongoing current expertise in health policy issues impacting labor and management, develop tools and programs to support labor management initiatives
- Perform additional duties and projects as assigned by management
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Health Administration, Organizational Development or equivalent years of experience required, Master's preferred; plus
- Minimum five (5) years leading, facilitating, and executing multiple transactional and high profile projects using Lean Six Sigma or other process improvement methodologies required; experience in a healthcare environment a must
- Experience working with unions, multiple stakeholders, and labor management strategies preferred
- Registered Nurse license preferred (active or inactive); Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certification from the American Society of Quality (ASQ) a plus
- Proven knowledge and experience of process improvement methodologies leading to measurable results required; technical mastery of Lean Six Sigma techniques, tools, and methods preferred (DMAIC, DFSS, and Value Stream Mapping, and Kaizen)
- Extensive project delivery experience including project management and using generally accepted project management tools and techniques required; high emotional intelligence level and professional self-management under pressure
- Strong leadership experience and mentoring skills; able to take on a challenges with proven ability to influence others and drive meaningful change results
- Extensive track record cultivating strong collaborative relationships across various organizational functions
- Demonstrated commitment to participatory approaches and joint problem solving; ability to adapt to multiple client requirements and appreciate the value of all employees in health care facility to support the work of integrated teams
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and ability to interact well with at all levels in a healthcare team; superb public speaking and training skills
- Ability to travel to various locations in the New York City, and Hudson Valley area
- Available to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends as needed
- Must meet performance standards including attendance and punctuality
