OVERVIEW

The Development Department of the National Office in New York City is seeking a full-time Coordinator for the Centennial Campaign and Donor Stewardship unit. Under the supervision of the Deputy Director of the Centennial Campaign and Donor Stewardship, the Coordinator will assume a key role in the successful implementation of a donor stewardship program that enhances relationships between the ACLU and its donors. The Coordinator will also provide executive assistance as directed by the Chief Development Officer. The ideal candidate will have experience as a coordinator or event planner and excellent organizational and communications skills, preferably in a fundraising setting.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Support of Centennial Campaign and Donor Stewardship Unit

  • Handle logistics for ACLU donor stewardship experiences, including but not limited to tele-conference town halls for top donors.
  • Assist with event planning and coordination, including donor salons, film screenings, and campaign briefings.
  • Coordinate and execute mass mailings handled by the unit, ensuring quality control and timely delivery.
  • Maintain and update master calendar of donor stewardship activities and communications.
  • Assess and ensure progress against project timelines, anticipating obstacles and "managing up" to maintain momentum towards project completion.
  • Track donor giving and engagement in electronic database.
  • Track unit expenses, maintain inventory, and process expense reports.
  • Foster relationships and collaborate with other staff across the units of the Development Department as well as other ACLU departments.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to diversity within the office; A personal approach that values all individuals and respects differences in regards to race, ethnicity, age, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, religion, ability and socio-economic circumstance.
  • Commitment to work collaboratively and respectfully toward resolving obstacles and/or conflicts.
  • Undertake special projects and perform other development coordinating tasks as needed.

Executive Assistance to Chief Development Officer

Serve as the first point of contact for the Chief Development Officer for the following:

  • Work with the Chief Development Officer and Development Directors to create agendas and prepare meeting materials.
  • Schedule and assist in organizing department-wide meetings.
  • Demonstrate tact in the handling of sensitive and confidential information.
  • Coordinate travel and process expense reports.
  • Undertake special projects and perform other development coordinating tasks as needed.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree required; In a relevant field of study is preferred.
  • Minimum of two years' experience in project coordination, preferably in a fundraising setting.
  • Project management experience and/or event planning is a plus.
  • Self-starter adept at planning, prioritizing, organizing, and follow through.
  • Superior writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work with staff at all levels within the organization, including senior staff.
  • Creative thinker with the ability to plan, execute and manage multiple projects through to completion while meeting tight deadlines. Excellent organizational skills, with superior attention to detail and strong follow-through are critical.
  • Ability to represent the organization and communicate professionally with donors, ACLU staff, and other colleagues, maintaining tact, diplomacy, and confidentiality.
  • Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Internet usage; experience with fundraising databases preferred.
  • Committed to and enthusiastic about the ACLU's mission and programs.
  • Some traveling may be required.
