Tennis Instructor (West Side YMCA)

Description

The YMCA of Greater New York is the largest youth-service organization in NYC. The organization has grown to encompass 21 branches and more than 140 sites throughout the five boroughs of New York City in addition to three camp sites and an upstate conference center.

The Grosvenor Neighborhood House YMCA is seeking a qualified Tennis Instructor who will conduct safe, fun, and effective sports programs, based on the YMCA of Greater New York Healthy Lifestyles Standards and Guidelines. The Instructor will serve as a resource for participants to achieve goals and a sense of well being.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the health, safety and well being of children and adults in the program by providing close supervision of all activities.
  • Create an atmosphere in which all participants can have fun, are safe and learn the importance of good principled athletics.
  • Prepare activity/lesson plans two weeks in advance and submit to Director.
  • Teach the rules and fundamentals pertaining to tennis.
  • Lead hand-on activities.
  • Inform immediate supervisor, on a daily basis, of any concerns or problems regarding participants and facilities.
  • Perform drills and demos pertaining to Tennis.
  • Maintain supplies and storage of equipment.
  • Maintain accurate program documentation (incident reports, accident report, behavior report, attendance & sign-in / sign-out sheets).
  • Actively participate in training sessions, designated meetings and special events.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • At least one year of successful tennis instruction experience with children and adults.
  • Coaching experience in Tennis.
  • Current First Aid/CPR/AED certifications.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
