SUMMARY

Administrative position involving coordination of center activities to provide a developmentally appropriate and therapeutic program for abused, neglected children.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

As part of the branch administrative team, provides direction for branch staff through participation in program planning and development, day-to-day operation, and activities that promote team building and productivity; including twice monthly staff meetings and trainings.

Provides ongoing supervision and training of therapeutic child care workers incorporating child development principles and therapeutic goals. Serves as a role model to staff in relating to and working with children and parents.

Observes and participates in treatment rooms, providing oversight of therapeutic curriculum; room environment; High Scope developmentally appropriate activities; positive behavior management techniques; and applied parenting training in the treatment room.

Assists child care workers in implementing treatment room program and ITP's for individual children.

Facilitates weekly classroom planning meetings ensuring that activities incorporate High/Scope principles, Personal Safety Program activities and individualized treatment goals.

Coordinates the implementation of the Personal Safety Program including introduction of each monthly theme by leading the Personal Safety Program circle time. This includes advising Case Managers of Personal Safety Program status.

Responsible for the implementation of Childhaven's program and policies by therapeutic child care staff. Provides direct supervision of therapeutic child care staff and substitutes. This includes staff orientation, assessment of staff needs, and performance evaluations of the individual staff members (four months and annual).

Participates in case reviews and staff meetings and coordinates the use of CCP data and ITPs.

Arranges for building maintenance and repairs, upholds health and safety standards according to licensing requirements. Keeps an ongoing inventory and orders supplies when needed.

Supervises operation of vans including staff van tests, assignments, route planning, maintenance and repairs. Assists in driving vans on routes, and transporting for maintenance, as needed.

Participates in workshops and in-service trainings. Co-teaches defensive driving course to staff on an annual basis.

Upgrades job performance and personal skills by attending conferences, courses, or seminars when able and by reading job-related journals and periodicals.

Oversees the High/Scope program which utilizes room management and guidance techniques which foster the development of a positive self-worth and self-esteem in young children.

Works cooperatively as a member of the treatment and administrative team in order to provide a high quality program for children.

Works or assists in program treatment room when needed.

Assumes additional administrative responsibilities as determined necessary by the Program Director.

Maintains and submits reports regarding agency and children's records.

Organize and coordinate auxiliary projects (i.e., volunteer projects and staff, community services programs and interns).

Responsible to comply with the agency's policy and procedure regarding the identification and reporting of child abuse.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly supervises the treatment room, kitchen and maintenance staff at the branch. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university in Early Childhood or related field, two years teaching experience and supervisory experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (Must include 45 credits in Early Childhood Education in accordance with Childcare Licensing or possess a CDA.)

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Have a valid Washington State driver's license and a safe driving record. Must attend and become certified in Defensive Driving.

Applicants must complete Portable WA Department of Early Learning Background check at their cost upon being offered the position.
