Description

New Leaders for New Schools is seeking an experienced grant manager to join its development team. The grant manager will have primary responsibility for a high-profile portfolio of private foundations. In this role, the manager will be responsible for all facets of the giving cycle, including proposal and report writing, working closely with the development team and senior program staff. This position reports to the Executive Director of Foundation & Corporate Partnerships. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Being an active member of a team with a goal of securing $14M in funding for FY12
reports, coordinating budgetary and program information for grants, monitoring the proposal review process, and maintaining the proposal and report deadline calendar;
• Managing the relationships with appropriate program staff for a high-profile portfolio of donors and prospects. This will include lateral management and coordination of multiple teams, including senior and executive level staff as needed;
• Maintaining and documenting funder contacts and proposal deadlines in the • Working closely with the Executive Director of Foundation & Corporate Partnerships as well as the CEO and Executive Team to prepare high-quality letters of inquiry, grant applications, and foundation and major donor correspondence including periodic status reports;
• Writing six figure grant proposals anddatabase; and
• Researching foundations and presenting well-reasoned recommendations to build our base of support.

Qualifications:
• Bachelors degree required;
• Strong verbal and written communicator: can speak compellingly about our organization, mission, and goals and has a mature presence;
• Two to four years of development and/or grant management experience with proven success in raising funds for nonprofit organizations preferred;
• Exceptional goal orientation and an excellent strategic thinker with a proven track record of success;
• Excellent detail orientation and organization skills, including exceptionally strong project management skills;
• Ability to build effective relationships with various types of people and to motivate superiors and peers to meet ambitious goals;
• Comfortable in high intensity and entrepreneurial settings; ability to manage people and your own portfolio to ensure an efficient operation;
• Ability to operate with purpose, urgency, and accuracy in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment;
• Personal responsibility and drive towards exceedingly ambitious goals;
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, familiarity with SalesForce and experience with prospecting research tools a plus; and,
• Experience with education reform or children's issues a plus
Compensation
Compensation package is commensurate with experience and includes competitive benefits package and 401K.
