POSITION DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: GSLE Specialist – Series and Events
DEPARTMENT: Program/Girl Scout leadership Experience
REPORTS TO: Director Girl Scout Leadership Experience
Summary: The GSLE Specialist is responsible for council-wide management of all aspects of program delivery through the series and events pathways. He or she ensures that series and events leadership program experiences are based on the Girl Scout Leadership Experience, customized to meet the needs and interests of girls, offered in a short-term flexible format, and implemented to meet designated leadership program outcomes while also recruiting and supporting volunteers in enriching and tailoring the leadership experience based on girl interests and needs.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, plan, implement, and evaluate Series and Events regionally.
- Recruit and retain volunteers to serve as GSLE Committee Organizers (regionally).
- Work with GSLE Committee Organizers to recruit and retain GSLE Coordinator Series (by Service Unit) and GSLE Coordinator Events (by Service Unit) as well as Series and Event Advisors.
- Work with the GSLE Committee Organizer(s), GSLE Coordinator(s) Series, GSLE Coordinator(s) Events to ensure all program offerings align to the GSLE by using journey books and The Girls' Guide to Girl Scouting, customized with additional local experiences.
- Work with the GSLE Committee Organizer(s) to ensure program offerings are relevant to the interests of the girls being served.
- Work with the Regional Recruitment & Retention Specialists and Community Development Specialists in the development, marketing, and implementation of new series/events.
- Assist Series/Event Advisors in coordinating logistics.
- Be guided in all actions by the Girl Scout Mission, Promise, and Law.
- Remain informed about and comply with the most current policies, procedures, and guidelines of Girl Scouts of Central & Southern NJ (GSCSNJ) and Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA).

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION:
A Bachelor's degree preferred; or equivalent work experience.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum 2-3 years experience in volunteer management, program planning; Girl Scout experience preferred.
SKILLS:
Outstanding written and oral skills.
Demonstrated ability to work independently; manage multiple priorities, creatively solve problems, and foster a pluralistic environment.
Flexibility, creativeness, and self-motivated.
Subscribes to the principles of the Girl Scout Movement; Girl Scout experience helpful. Have the ability to cultivate collaborative relationships with key community leaders
Ability to work a flexible schedule and provide own transportation for travel within the council jurisdiction.
Successful experience in recruiting, training and supervising volunteers.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Administrative volunteers.
EQUIPMENT TO BE USED:
Incumbent must be fully computer literate and able to use various software programs, i.e., Word processing.
The incumbent must have the ability to operate other office machines such as fax, calculator, and business telephones.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The position requires:
- Frequent mobility and/or sitting required for extended periods.
- Some bending and stooping required.
- Manual dexterity to operate computer keyboard, calculator, copier machine, and other office equipment.
- Ability to read numbers, reports, and computer terminals.
- Hearing within normal range for telephone use. Occasional high stress work may be required in dealing with volunteers/staff.

- Be able to analyze many variables and choose the most effective course of action for the council at any given point in time.

- Must be able to analyze causes of interpersonal conflict and resolve complex communications issues (i.e., undefined roles, objectives, and information gaps).
- Ability to listen to people, perceive the real problems, and bring issues to a successful conclusion.
- Have the ability to give, receive, and analyze information, formulate work plans, prepare written materials, articulate goals, and action plans.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Evening and/or weekend work is required.
The job requires driving.
