The Montefiore School Health Program is looking for a full-time physician to work with an interdisciplinary team at a full-service health center serving five mini-schools in a large, culturally diverse, urban elementary school campus.
The Montefiore School Health Program currently consists of 20 school-based health centers around the Bronx. The mission of the Montefiore School Health Program is to provide Bronx public school students with full access to high quality comprehensive and preventative health services through:
- integration with community, health, and social service systems and resources;
- full participation of families and school staff;
- rigorous program evaluation; and
- participation in public policy and training areas.
Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive primary care and episodic acute care for students both as the direct provider and in collaboration with outside primary care providers :
- Work with the on-site nursing and mental health providers to address a range of adolescent health problems, including asthma and other chronic illnesses, healthy sexual development, obesity, and behavioral concerns such as ADD and depression;
- Liaison with school personnel (e.g., administration, teachers and guidance counselors) for services that are relevant for the students;
- Collaborate with and provide off-site clinical consultation for a nurse practitioner in providing comprehensive services at a neighboring school-based health center;
- Precept second/third year Pediatric residents on school-health rotation;
- Participate with Medical Director and other medical providers in ongoing development of clinical protocols, program evaluation and outcomes research.
Positions are full time (M-F 8am – 4pm) with excellent benefits and summers off (July and August). Salary commensurate with education and experience
Candidate is eligible for appointment at Assistant Professor level, depending on experience, through the Department of Pediatrics, Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
Education/Experience: MD or DO, with Board Certification in Pediatrics or Family Medicine. At least one year of experience with pediatric patients in outpatient setting required. Proficiency in Spanish is required.
