RWI is seeking a graduate student, recent graduate or qualified undergraduate to provide research, data analysis and other support to the President and NY-based economics and governance teams. Current graduate students, recent graduates and undergraduate students with relevant experience are encouraged to apply. Position is located in New York.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. RWI may add, change, or remove essential and other duties at any time.

  • Contribute research and analysis on targeted economic and governance issues, through:
  • Empirical research, data analysis and dataset production;
  • Literature review and the production of summary research reports;
  • Additional research and writing support to the President and economics and governance portfolios.
  • Specific projects may include contributions on: sovereign wealth funds, state revenue-sharing standards, national oil companies and their relationship to public budgets, 'local content', and other issues.
  • Support the development of the Revenue Watch Index, through review and analysis of project data, and drafting and editing of related materials.
  • Assist the President to prepare research, public reports and presentations.
  • Additional institutional and research support as necessary.

Education/Experience: Current student or recent graduate in relevant field (e.g. economics, political science, international affairs) with a demonstrated track record in economics, international development and empirical research

Skills Required:

  • Excellent research abilities and writing skills
  • Facility with database management, data analysis and dataset preparation
  • Competence to work independently on research assignments
  • Familiarity with internet tools and social media desirable
  • Proficiency in a foreign language preferred but not required

Duration: Part-time (20 hours/week),June – August, 2013

Compensation: Hourly rate commensurate with experience.
