Organization Description: Boston Medical Center is a 496-bed academic medical center located in Boston's historic South End. The hospital is the primary teaching affiliate for Boston University School of Medicine. Within the Section of General Internal Medicine, the Clinical Addiction Research and Education (CARE) Unit conducts research, educates health professionals, provides health care, and informs clinical and public health practice and policy to improve the lives of people with unhealthy alcohol and other drug use.

Job Description: Under the oversight of senior Program leadership, the Program Manager is responsible for the implementation, support, and day-to-day coordination of one or more educational and training programs within the Clinical Addiction Research and Education (CARE) Unit. Such programs may include the Clinical Addiction Research and Education (CARE) Program, the Chief Resident Immersion Training (CRIT)/Fellow Immersion Training (FIT) programs, Research in Addiction Medicine Scholars (RAMS) program and the BU Addiction Medicine Fellowship program.

Duties will include:

  • Handling program logistics and program marketing
  • Maintaining faculty and participant correspondence (including the application process)
  • Contributing to curriculum and program development
  • Maintaining and documenting credentialing and institutional compliance
  • Scheduling and conducting meetings and on and off-site fellow rotations
  • Creating and managing program budgets and facilitating budget-related needs (i.e., processing reimbursements, establishing subcontracts, etc.)
  • Coordinating grant and budget reporting
  • Participating in program outcome evaluation, including helping to develop evaluation plans, writing and editing IRB protocols and co-writing manuscripts
  • Delegating tasks, providing training, and overseeing the work of 1 or more junior staff members who provide additional administrative support
  • Some overnight travel is required.

The position requires a strong ability to coordinate multiple activities and meet deadlines, as well as flexibility to adapt to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities. Strong written and oral communication skills are desired.

This is a full time, 40-hour per week position, salary commensurate with experience. A minimum of a Bachelors degree is required of all candidates; Master's preferred. 3-5 years of experience with program coordination, education and training initiatives, public health or medical disciplines, and/or communication strongly preferred.
