ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT

ADL's New York Regional Office is expanding our team and adding two Associate Directors of Development. Each will be responsible for a portfolio covering a region (either Long Island or Westchester) and a sector, i.e., Real Estate, Financial Services. These positions will be co-located in our Midtown Manhattan office and within the region.

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The Associate Director of Development will be a welcome member of a friendly and collaborative New York Regional Office team. S/he will identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward a growing portfolio of donors to meet regional goals. The position will report to NYRO's Director of Development.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identify, cultivate, build, and deepen relationships with prospects and established contributors.
  • Solicit and close gifts independently and in collaboration with the Director of Development, Regional Director, Volunteer Leadership, and/or Program Leadership.
  • Steward donor relationships.
  • Maintain accurate donor records.
  • Work with program and education staff to design strategies that will encourage new gifts and increase contributions.
  • Create and produce donor cultivation events and special events.
  • Participate in special assignments or projects to assist the Regional Director, Director of Development, Trustees serving on the NYRB Development Committee, or a representative at the National level.
  • Participate in development-related functions such as marketing, design/preparation of print materials, event logistics, pre-event prospect/donor research, and post-event follow-through.
  • Supervise intern(s).

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Five to seven years of experience in Development, with a proven ability to solicit and close new gifts.
  • Superb follow-through, from acknowledgements to ongoing stewardship.
  • Able to meet goals and deliver on time.
  • Comfortable representing ADL's mission, policies and programs to donors and prospects.
  • Event-planning experience is essential.
  • The ability to research, identify and rate prospects is a plus.
  • Familiarity with the NY/Metro Jewish community.
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation and writing skills.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel & PowerPoint), and database management software.
  • Frequent local travel within the region. Occasional overnight travel.
  • Candidate must provide his/her own means of transportation to and from regional appointments; mileage is reimbursable in accordance with ADL's travel reimbursement policy.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
