Job description

The Trust for Public Land, a National non-profit dedicated to preserving land for parks, gardens and trails, is recruiting for a State Director of Philanthropy for Louisiana. This position will be responsible for all philanthropic activities within the state including: identification, cultivation, solicitation and management of major donors and foundations; working with Advisory Board members, volunteers and staff to leverage TPL's projects and programs for philanthropic purposes; donor recognition and communications; and tracking and evaluation of strategic plans.

Specifically, the SDoP is expected to carry between 35-45 active, high level prospects and manage a total portfolio of 120 prospects, including annual visits; assure that the Louisiana philanthropy budget is met or exceeded, create and manage the Louisiana philanthropy plan and raise approximately $500,000-$1 million annually in collaboration with Louisiana staff.

Requirements include: 6+ years fund-raising experience at all levels, including major and annual gift solicitations; proficiency with donor databases; experience in writing grant proposals; experience staffing volunteer boards, availability to travel; and knowledge of the Louisana philanthropic market. Knowledge of or experience with an environmental or land conservation organization is a plus.
