The Smithsonian is recruiting for a potential new USAID Bengal Tiger Conservation Activity in Bangladesh. All positions are contingent upon proposal award and would be temporary assignments through the Smithsonian Institution.
Chief of Party (COP) –
- Senior level professional with a minimum of 12 years in implementing natural resource management, biodiversity conservation or climate change adaptation projects in developing countries. Technical expertise should complement the skills of the Deputy Chief of Party and/or other Key Personnel.
- International experience in developing countries, preferably including South Asia/Bangladesh.
- Masters or Ph.D. in wildlife management, natural resource management, environmental management, ecology, environmental science, or other relevant field.
- Proven leadership in the administration of similar activities with skills in strategic planning, management, supervision and budgeting. Extensive experience working with the USG or international donors is critical.
- Proven experience and knowledge in promoting the role of gender in wildlife and/or biodiversity conservation.
- Demonstrated ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams and develop a network of contacts among international donor officials, GOB, and non-government staff.
- Evidence of excellent skills in intercultural communications and proven experience in facilitating dialogue, coordination, and collaboration in wildlife and/or biodiversity conservation.
- Possesses a demonstrated ability to establish strong working relationships with senior representatives of national and local government, the private sector and civil society.
- Excellent communication skills in English (Foreign Service Institute [FSI] level IV), both written and orally. Knowledge of Bangla is preferred.
