Background

The Committee to Protect Journalists is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to fill the position of executive assistant. This position with be 50% general admin support and 50% development department support. This is a full-time, exempt position based in CPJ's New York office. The starting salary is $42,000 plus benefits.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide administrative support as needed to executive director, deputy executive director, development director and finance director
  • Schedule and maintain executive calendars and meetings
  • Coordinate executive communications including taking calls, responding to emails and coordinating visitors
  • Work with travel agent to coordinate and manage executive travel itineraries
  • Coordinate meetings, including assisting with conference calls, logistics and RSVPs.
  • Maintain an organized file system of paper and electronic documents
  • Uphold strict confidentiality
  • Liaise with Finance department during monthly close and annual audit
  • Help maintain the organization-wide database
  • Gifts entering, tracking and reporting as needed
  • Assist in some donor and program research
  • Carry out routine administrative tasks

Qualifications: 2+ years of related experience; strong organizational, communication, project management and problem solving skills; impeccable multi-tasking ability, exceptional interpersonal skills; experience with Microsoft Office suite required. Some experience with Razors Edge preferred. Computer literacy, and ability to work in a quickly changing, deadline-oriented environment. International outlook and experience a plus.
