Job description

Resources for Human Development is a comprehensive, nonprofit, social service organization with headquarters in Philadelphia, Pa. Founded in 1970, RHD currently oversees and supports more than 160 locally managed human service programs in 14 states, working quietly behind the scenes of many programs you already know.

RHD's mission is to empower people as they build the highest level of independence possible, building better lives for themselves, their families and their communities. From providing residential services for individuals with mental illness, intellectual and developmental disabilities, chemical addiction and those who are homeless to job training, assisted transportation, and crisis intervention, RHD provides individualized, quality assistance wherever the need exists.

We are seeking a full-time Program Developer to work with experienced staff and managers in specified program areas to design operational program models and develop funding proposals for new and existing programs. Typical tasks will include a careful reading of RFP's issued by governmental funding agencies, working with program staff to design new services, and preparing well-written proposals that are consistent with RFP requirements.

The successful candidate must have prior grant writing experience, be familiar with a variety of human services (e.g., developmental disabilities, mental illness, drug and alcohol rehabilitation, homelessness and employment), have a demonstrated ability to facilitate decision-making around questions of program design, and be able to work independently.

RHD offers a competitive salary, a unique working environment that supports open communication between all levels of staff, a strong collegial atmosphere, and an excellent benefits package.

A writing sample (preferably a grant application) must be submitted along with a resume. Note that applications that do not include a writing sample will not be considered.
