BRICK Academy is a result of a strong partnership between Newark Public Schools and Building Responsible Intelligent Creative Kids (BRICK), a Newark based educational nonprofit. The mission of BRICK is to Build Responsible Intelligent and Creative Kids. Through an International Baccalaureate curriculum, extended day, individual professional development, and community and family partnership, BRICK provides students with the opportunity to be college and life ready in an interconnected global society.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Must have at least five years of classroom teaching experience at the primary grade levels • Must be dedicated to quality education and the well-being of children. • Must have a passion for student learning and for increasing professional knowledge and effectiveness of self and others • Must be knowledgeable about current research and practices associated with: effective instructional strategies for increasing reading/language arts competency, the psychology of learning related to children and adults, and research methodology to evaluate program effectiveness • Must demonstrate high levels of professional conduct and exemplary teaching of individuals and small group instruction that result in high levels of student learning • Must be able to gather, compile, and disaggregate data; and to link that data to student learning and instruction • Must relate well to children, teachers, parents, higher education, colleagues, and the community • Must have a cooperative, helpful attitude toward people; be non-judgmental, confidential, highly organized, productive, and passionate about the development of others
