The Development and Communications Associate reports directly to the Director of Institutional Advancement, supporting her work, and works closely with the entire staff and in close communication with students to ensure that Harvard Hillel's activities and events are well projected through social media, as well as by email and regular mail to stakeholders and potential new supporters.
Harvard Hillel is the catalyst for Jewish life at Harvard University, energizing students to shape Jewish cultural, religious, social, and political identity, to represent the Jewish people in the life of the University, to build bridges among communities, and to form enduring commitments to Jewish life and self-‐expression. Harvard Hillel is committed to pluralism, to safe space, to inclusivity, and to Jewish diversity.
Harvard University, which was founded in 1636 and celebrates its 377th year in 2013, remains committed to the purposes for which its Charter was granted: "The advancement of all good literature, arts, and sciences; the advancement and education of youth in all manner of good literature, arts, and sciences; and all other necessary provisions that may conduce to the education of the youth of this country." Harvard strives to create knowledge, to open the minds of students to that knowledge, and to enable students to take best advantage of their educational opportunities. To these ends, the College encourages students to respect ideas and their free expression, and to rejoice in discovery and in critical thought; to pursue excellence in a spirit of productive cooperation; and to assume responsibility for the consequences of personal actions. Harvard seeks to identify and to remove restraints on students' full participation, so that individuals may explore their capabilities and interests and may develop their full intellectual and human potential. Harvard Hillel strives for a similar phenomenon in Jewish identity and community, within Harvard University and beyond.
