Job Description
Kiva seeks to hire a Portfolio Manager for Eastern Europe & Central Asia (ECA) to assist with ongoing expansion and partner monitoring. As an experienced and highly driven professional, you will play a key role in growing and monitoring Kiva's portfolio in the region. As part of a small but dynamic regional team, you will have the opportunity to significantly affect one of the region's newest and fastest growing funders. You will work closely with key members of Kiva's ECA team based in San Francisco, USA.

Responsibilities:

Business Development

  • Source potential partner organizations in the region working in Kiva's priority impact areas (e.g. higher education, water and sanitation, renewable energy, innovative agriculture, startup, and Islamic products)
  • Develop relationships with networks and investors to build sector-specific expertise and source partnerships

Due Diligence

  • Conduct desk review and onsite due diligence, as necessary, for new potential partner organizations in the region to understand and assess financial management, social performance and mission fit with Kiva

Monitoring

  • Monitor portfolio quality through effective oversight including review of financials and portfolio reports
  • Strengthen partner capacity by highlighting microfinance best practices
  • Monitor partner use of funds to ensure that Kiva capital is being used for maximum social impact

Required Skills / Qualifications / Experience

  • 3+ years of professional experience in the microfinance, international development, or impact investing
  • BS/BA degree in business, finance, economics or related field
  • English language fluency required; Russian language knowledge is a plus
  • Highly flexible and able to adapt in a dynamic work environment
  • Strong individual initiative and ability to work collaboratively
  • Proven ability to think creatively about investment and social impact
  • High degree of comfort with Microsoft Office
  • Strong writing skills in English
  • Ability to deliver results on multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Disciplined, detail oriented, and accountable
  • Ability to interact effectively with people of other cultures, capacities, and organizations
  • Strong interpersonal and speaking skills
  • Ability to travel regionally up to 30% of your time, including rural locations

Highly Desirable Qualities

  • Knowledge of microfinance best practices and lending methodologies and/or background in other Kiva priority impact areas (e.g. higher education, water and sanitation, renewable energy, innovative agriculture) is a strong plus
  • Global mobility: Flexibility to relocate to Istanbul, Turkey, should the opportunity arise in the future
