The New York Botanical Garden, a National Historic Landmark and one of NYC's premier cultural institutions, seeks a full-time Budget Analyst. The Budget Analyst will assist the Associate Controller & Director of Budget Operations and the Director of Capital Projects, Grants and Contracts Budgeting in various aspects of the budget process, maintenance of personnel and chart of accounts, and the preparation of external and internal reports and analysis.
- Assist in the development and monitoring of the institution's annual operating budget, including compilation of various divisional budgets such as Science Models.
- Maintain payroll budget schedule and track changes to authorized positions.
- Prepare vacancy savings and other payroll analysis as required.
- Process all personnel requisitions and personnel action forms.
- Process all transmittal forms, account setup, and budget transfer requests.
- Maintain chart of accounts/ trees and perform routine cleanup on inactive program codes.
- Assist with preparation and submission of funding requests to external funding agencies.
- Prepare financial analyses and work on special projects as needed.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business or related field.
- 2-3 years experience in budget work, preferably with exposure to grant preparation and/or reporting.
- Must be a self starter with a driven attitude and eagerness to learn and grow.
- Must be capable of multi-tasking and perform well under pressure in a dynamic work environment.
- Must possess strong conceptual and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Extensive knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Excel required.
- Knowledge of MAS500 accounting system and FRX report writer preferred.
