The Center for Women and Enterprise, headquartered in downtown Boston, and with offices in Providence, Rhode Island and Worcester, Massachusetts, is seeking a Director of Development Officer to head a development office charged with raising initially $1.9 million per year for operations from government and philanthropic sources and $250,000 in additional Capacity Campaign funding in 2014. This chosen candidate will become the primary individual giving fund raiser within the organization and will be charged with overseeing and directing all development activities and playing the leadership role with a team of two other development professionals.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent organizational capability, an outgoing personality, attention to detail, and the willingness and ability to act as an ambassador at many public events throughout the year. Additionally, s/he must be able to work as a team with the President/CEO who is both actively engaged in fundraising and provides the overall vision for the organization, as well as with other team members, who are responsible for the overall branding, membership and messaging of the institution. Required skills include computer competence, preferably with Raiser's Edge, and excellent abilities in the area of foundation, corporate and individual giving. The candidate should also have major events experience and the ability to oversee logistically complex situations.
We are actively looking for someone with a first class mind who is ready, eager, and able to sell the Center's story and has the drive and ambition to close the deal with both current and prospective major donors. Ideally, we are looking for an established fundraiser who would like to make the move to a mission-based organization with a strong foundation and an established team in place. Aptitude and attitude matter greatly in this position.
