Benefits Coordinator (Unemployment)

If you're ready for the brightest career future, join us in this excellent opportunity to showcase your talents. We are currently seeking an experienced Benefits Coordinator (Unemployment) for our Job Security Fund department.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure administration, process and maintenance of Job Security Fund (JSF) benefits for laid-off 1199SEIU members
  • Administer Supplemental Unemployment Benefits (SUB) and health benefits; troubleshoot benefit issues and resolve problems
  • Review accuracy of unemployment and appointment information required for all JSF participants; verify eligibility of health benefits with the 1199SEIU Benefit and Pension Fund
  • Create and run various monthly and weekly reports in Excel; ensure members receive appropriate benefits and information is administered accurately
  • Review reports for accuracy and maintain communication with Job Service Coordinators regarding participant eligibility and JSF benefits
  • Liaison with the Information Technology (IT) department to troubleshoot database issues regarding benefits; ensure database records are accurate
  • Perform additional duties and projects as assigned by management

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required, some College or Degree preferred; plus
  • Minimum two (2) years experience handling and processing unemployment, disability, worker's compensation, or healthcare eligibility in a benefits environment required
  • Basic skill level in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Outlook; intermediate Excel preferred
  • Problem solver with excellent attention to detail; ability to coordinate and follow-up on outstanding tasks
  • Good organizational skills and able to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills; ability to interact with all levels of staff and demonstrate sensitivity to confidential information
  • Available to work some evenings, weekends, and travel in the NYC area as needed
  • Must meet performance standards including attendance and punctuality
