PROGRAM COORDINATOR
(part time)
JUNE 2013
Active Voice is seeking a part time Program Coordinator to work in our San Francisco office. Active Voicetackles social issues through the creative use of film. We believe that real progress requires real connection, and that film has a unique power to bring people together in meaningful ways. Every day Active Voice helps filmmakers, funders and communities start the conversations and relationships that lead to lasting, measurable change. Our film campaigns involve: strategy development based on feedback from key stakeholders; partnership development with local and national organizations; message testing via focus groups; close collaborations with community-based organizations to help them produce outcome-oriented events; the creation of supplementary and educational materials; social media engagement; and repurposed video content for web and social media distribution. We also provide consultation to philanthropists, film producers and NGOs who are interested in using film and story to advance social change. Since our inception in 2001, Active Voice has influenced local, regional and national dialogue on issues including immigration, criminal justice, healthcare and education.
The Program Coordinator will be responsible for supporting social issue film projects by conducting research, identifying potential partner organizations, coordinating logistics for strategy meetings, managing social media profiles, coordinating material development and supporting evaluation efforts.
The ideal candidatehas at least two years experience in a nonprofit, foundation or public interest organization, with proven expertise in coordinating and implementing efforts that deal with social issues. Familiarity with juvenile justice and LGBT issues is a strong plus. S/he has experience with communications and community/civic engagement and has a strong interest in how storytelling and media can help contributed to sustained impact. The Program Coordinator must be equally effective communicating (written and oral) with grassroots organizers, policy makers and high-level project advisors, as well as proficient in web-based and social media strategies. This is not a political advocacy position; the candidate must be effective at working with a wide range of perspectives and opinions. The work requires extreme attention to detail, cultural competency, and a high level of organization and teamwork skills. The Program Coordinator reports to the Executive Director.
Applicants must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel) and Outlook. Working knowledge of FileMaker Pro, Adobe Photoshop, Constant Contact, basic media formats and/or web design is a plus.
Active Voice is an Equal Opportunity Employer. People of color, LGBT and people with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply.
Interested applicants should send an email with the subject line "Program Coordinator – [Your Name]" and attach a letter expressing interest, a professional writing sample and resume to jobs@activevoice.net immediately.
